Summer Internship Opportunities

Each year VirtusAero offers a number of paid summer internship positions in the field of Computational Fluid Dynamics of hypersonic flows and in areas related to this topic.  Interns help to test and improve existing computational tools for analysis of hypersonic boundary layers under the direction of engineers at VirtusAero and in collaboration with other organizations.  Duties include: running CFD and related post-processing and analysis codes, compiling and testing software on Linux systems, improving documentation, and helping to develop and test new methods for hypersonic flow analysis using state of the art CFD tools.  Topics and requirements vary, but ideal candidates in general should have a strong background in computer programming. For topics related to fluid dynamics and hypersonics, students should have completed basic coursework in fluid mechanics and/or hypersonics. Previous experience with CFD and experience using Linux workstations is a plus. Candidates should possess strong communication and problem solving skills and a desire to learn and contribute.  Internships last approximately twelve weeks, with work to be performed at the VirtusAero offices near Minneapolis, Minnesota.  Applicants must be US Citizens or have permanent resident status.
